On November 3rd, Gartner revealed their Magic Quadrant for eCommerce research report, and this year, we see new trends that are especially noteworthy. The eCommerce industry is steadily increasing and one of the most important desires for organizations is for a single vendor to provide as many eCommerce and customer experience capabilities as possible. The complexities of this industry create challenges for many smaller platforms, but as seen in the magic quadrant matrix, the market leaders continue to invest in encompassing all eCommerce needs into one platform.
Gartner named IBM as the leader in the eCommerce industry based on two primary criteria: Ability to Execute and Completeness of Vision. Gartner’s definition of the eCommerce market continues to expand beyond simply B2B and B2C commerce to include the entire customer experience throughout the entire sales process. IBM Smarter Commerce encompasses the entire value chain, and the processes that contribute to the overall customer experience which is why their “sell” side solutions, including WebSphere Commerce, lead the industry.
