INDIANAPOLIS –BlueSky Technology Partners Inc., was proud to be a part of the Tour de Cure on Saturday, June 21, 2014, at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The Indiana Tour de Cure gave riders of all levels a chance to ride their bike around the track; from a light cruise with rest stops to a more grueling 100-mile ride. BlueSky, with more than 1400 other riders and supporters, raised over $600,000 combined to support diabetes research, education, and advocacy programs.
BlueSky Principal Business Analyst, Cindy Thoenes, has attended the event each year with her husband Rick, and says they participate for family, friends and co-workers living with diabetes.
“When you arrive at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway bright and early on Saturday morning it’s inspiring to see so many riders all gathering together for a common cause,” Thoenes said. “And what a range of participants, from the professional cyclers all the way to families with little children on their tricycles and of course all the red riders – those who are riding with diabetes.”
The Tour de Cure is a series of cycling events in 44 states that help raise funds for diabetes research, education and advocacy. Diabetes is a serious chronic disease that 26 million children and adults are diagnosed with in the U.S.
For multiple years now, BlueSky has sponsored a team for the event. In all 44 participating states, more than 65,000 cyclists in 89 events raised more than $26 million to support the mission of the American Diabetes Association in 2013.
“The ride is great but the opportunity to help others is even better,” said Thoenes.
“we are looking forward to next year.”
BlueSky believes in supporting and improving the lives of people affected by diabetes, and the Tour De Cure made for a very fun day to show that support.
